Behavioral health covers many aspects of mental health. There are many resources available for people to access counseling and medical management of psychiatric disorders on a sliding scale basis. Individuals in crisis should be directed to Crisis Hotline numbers. (Many mental health resources will list a hotline number for someone to reach a live person via phone) Individuals voicing suicidal or homicidal ideations should be directed to the National Suicide Hotline network

Some mental health providers have walk-in service available during specific hours. In some counties, Community Action Agencies have funds for mental health services and can direct individuals to mental health resources.
It can be challenging to identify resources for Drug and Alcohol Detox treatment on inpatient basis. Many providers require that clients have private insurance for Medicaid. Some will work with clients for private pay/sliding scale basis. Connecting patients to outpatient mental health providers is often the best way to initiate a path to recovery for an individual suffering from chemical dependency.
