RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CERTIFICATION POLICIES
“The definitive aim of catechesis is to put people in communion and intimacy with Jesus Christ”
(On Catechesis in Our Time #5).
The Office of Catholic Education and Formation of the Archdiocese of St. Louis issues various levels of certification for religion teachers, catechists and administrators in elementary and secondary Catholic schools and in parish schools of religion and parish programs. Certification is aimed at providing each teacher with theological competency, catechetical methodology, and personal spiritual formation. A person must be Catholic to be certified. The Catechetical Formation Program offers the core curriculum.
