Mission Statement: The Mission of the Catholic Youth Apostolate is to help all young people hear the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and to help all young people actively respond to the Gospel message and enthusiastically participate in the mission of Jesus Christ and His Church.
The Catholic Youth Apostolate accomplishes its mission through athletics, youth, young adult, and retreat ministry programs.
We strive to fulfill our mission by:
- Providing opportunities for the youth and adults we serve to experience the love and hear the call of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Giving our youth and adults ways to experience the Church in a positive manner and giving them opportunities to share their faith with others.
- Shaping our youth and adults’ spiritual and moral values and inspiring a sense of respect for the dignity and rights of others.
- Giving our youth and adults a sense of community and belonging in the local and global Church.
Under the direction of then-Archbishop Raymond Burke, The Catholic Youth Apostolate formed in 2005. The merger of the Catholic Youth Council and the Office of Youth Ministry came as a result of the Strategic Pastoral Planning of 1999-2002. It was part of a larger plan that will help the Church in Saint Louis realize it goals of conversion, evangelization, Catholic education, serving those in need, and exercising responsible stewardship. While our history as an Apostolate is still relatively new, our departments have a strong and rich history of serving the youth across Saint Louis. Our combined history dates back to 1941, with the formation of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Youth.
