All Things New update

Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski has asked Msgr. Jeffrey Knight, pastor of Seven Holy Founders Parish in Affton, to proceed with the amalgamation of St. John Paul II Parish into Seven Holy Founders Parish. Following the All Things New Pentecost announcement, a period of time was allowed for any member of St. John Paul II or Seven Holy Founders who claimed to have been aggrieved by the decree to appeal the decision.

Early in the process, the archdiocese was informed of two possible appeals regarding St. John Paul II Parish. While the archdiocese awaited response from the Dicastery for the Clergy in Rome, Archbishop Rozanski asked Msgr. Knight to refrain from any changes to the parishes that would be difficult to reverse, including merging finances. The archdiocese has since received confirmation from the Dicastery that the two appeals were deemed invalid, and enough time has passed to be confident no other appeals are pending, Archbishop Rozanski said in a letter to parishioners.
