The Institute for Theological Encounter with Science and Technology (ITEST) will present a webinar, “How Does Social Media Affect Children?” from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, April 13. Sister Marysia Weber, RSM, DO, will present on “Screen Addiction: Why You Can’t Put Your Phone Down,” and Dr. Kevin Powell, PhD, FAAP, will speak on “How Social Media Affects Children.” Cost is $10 per person

Workshop for musicians
The St. Louis chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians will offer an “Ave Maria Workshop” from 8:30 a.m.-noon, Saturday, April 20, at St. Norbert Church, 16455 New Halls Ferry Road in Florissant. The workshop will be presented with a focus on music but is open to anyone who is interested. The day will begin with registration and continental breakfast, followed by a history of the Ave Maria prayer and its earliest musical settings by Jeff Wisniewski, director of sacred music at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary. Heather Martin Cooper, an organist, director and soprano, will give a talk on “The Ave Maria in Liturgy: Repertoire and Resources,” followed by a master class on singing the Franz Schubert setting of Ave Maria led by mezzo-soprano and educator Theresa Flores. Cost is $15 for the public and $10 for members of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians. RSVPs are requested by April 18 to [email protected].
Quilters day of reflection
The Southern Vicariate will host a quilters day of reflection from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at the Bloomsdale Knights of Columbus Hall, 175 Jersey Lane in Bloomsdale. The day will include light breakfast and lunch, prayer and fellowship with others who share a love of quilting, sewing, yarn work and other crafts. Gathering for bereaved mothers
The Pallottine Retreat and Conference Center and Baue Funeral Home will offer an International Bereaved Mothers’ Gathering from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Pallottine Retreat and Conference Center, 15270 Old Halls Ferry Road in Florissant. The gathering will honor their motherhood and the cherished memory of their child. All are welcome, regardless of the age or time of the child’s death. The free program will be held outdoors (weather permitting), and participants are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held indoors.
