Sister Cecilia

At 15, Sister Cecilia Pham boarded a crowded boat in her beloved homeland of Vietnam and set out with a few family members on a difficult journey to the United States. They were fleeing an oppressive Communist regime that among other atrocities had taken possession of their family business. It was their third attempt to escape. The family left relatives, friends and everything they owned.

But Sister Cecilia has found hope, community and purpose in St. Louis, serving God and her fellow country people through her work at the Vietnamese Health Clinic at St. Francis Community Service’s Southside Center.

Recognizing that everything we have and everything we are is a gift from God and then being grateful and generous with those gifts is how we are all called to live. A stewardship lifestyle is part of being a good disciple of Jesus. It puts us on the path to holiness, to becoming a saint and hopefully, gets us to heaven. The concept of stewardship is easy to understand, the hard part is putting it into practice.

Has your parish embraced stewardship? Over the past six years Dave has met with 140 of the 180 parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Louis on personal and parish stewardship formation.

Last summer, while mowing his lawn and thinking, Paul felt like he got a message from God about the 2017/2018 REAP Team retreat year …“Divine Appointments”… He knew then that, with about 170 events in the coming year, there would be certain moments when God would put a young man or woman in contact with just the right person, and at just the right time, for them to open up, to get the help they need, and to grow closer to God.

"What will this look like in a parish?" is a constant mantra at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary where 124 seminarians are preparing to become healthy, holy, joy-filled priests. The seminary has an integrated program of human spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral formation. In the classroom, the faculty regularly incorporates pastoral applications.
