Still looking for Ideas on what to give up for Lent?

40 ways

Beginning on February 26 with Ash Wednesday, Catholics and Christians all over the world will enter into the liturgical season of Lent. The Lenten is sacrificial in nature, and encourages us to not only spend time reflecting on Jesus’s sacrifice for us, but to unite our own sufferings to His.

The 40 days of preparation for Easter has been a part of the Church’s yearly practice throughout its history with documentation of fasting during these 40 days as early as the late 100s AD in the writings of St. Irenaeus. Today, the Church gives us the practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as the means of entering into the Lenten season and to prepare our hearts for Good Friday and ultimately, Easter.
