OCTOBER ACTIVITIES FOR CATHOLIC FAMILIES STEWARDSHIP Spend a day doing little things for God and others in honor of the feast day of St. Therese “The Little Flower” (October 1st) Enjoy angel food cake (or another angel themed treat) for the feast of the Holy Guardian Angels (October 2nd) Do something nice for animals to celebrate the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi (October 4th), such as building a bird feeder, putting out bread with peanut butter and bird seeds, take a dog to a park, or another favorite animal-related activity Go to a local farmers market and buy everything you need to make a meal as a family. Talk about the blessings of harvest time and those who grow our food. October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. Make a full or single decade Rosary either as a family or each family member individually Saint Ignatius of Antioch called himself “the wheat of Christ.” Plant some winter wheat as a family (October 17th) Spend the month doing read out-louds from the Gospel according to St. Luke. St. Luke’s feast day is October 18th Attend the Living Rosary at OLP. Bring your friends and family (October 19th) 7pm Pick a religious themed Halloween costume for your child – such as a favorite Saint. Plan to celebrate All Saints Day on November 1st. (It’s also a Holy Day of Obligation) 31st-7pm, Nov. 1st-8am & 12pm Plan to attend MASS OF REMEMBRANCE at 7 PM on November 2, remembering all our deceased parishioners from this past year. Frank Runyeon has won national acclaim for his work as a translator and performer of Biblical texts. For more than 25 years, Frank has performed the gospel for hundreds of thousands of people in almost every state in America, earning rave reviews. Frank is perhaps still best known for his many roles on television as Steve Andropoulos on As the World Turns opposite Meg Ryan. He next appeared for four years as Father Michael Donnelly on Santa Barbara, and as tycoon Simon Romero on General Hospital, opposite Emma Samms. Frank has now translated and adapted seven Biblical texts for performance as one-man dramas. He will present two of those dramas for us, as well as a presentation on the subject of mass media.
