The village of Old Mines is the oldest settlement in the state of Missouri. Lead miners were in Old Mines as early as 1719, turning to baryte mining well into the 1900s. The founding of Old Mines in 1723 coincides with the land grant awarded to Philippe Francois Renault by French government.
Our day is packed with events for the entire family! Live Creole music, early way of life demonstrations, games, local wines, French pastries, fresh baked bread in stone ovens, crafts, historical exhibits and tours, pony rides, log cabins, wine, cold drinks and more!
