Saint Anselm Parish gives thanks for the life-affirming decision by the Supreme Court of the United States of America at a Mass of Thanksgiving on Thursday, August 11 at 7 p.m. in the Abbey Church.
This candlelight Mass, concelebrated by Father Aidan McDermott and Abbot Thomas Frerking, and the homily offered by Father Francis Hein, is sponsored by Saint Anselm’s Cenacle for Life to commemorate the historic overturning of Roe v. Wade, making abortion no longer a Constitutional right.
We will place 63 lit candles at the foot of the altar, each one representing over 1,000,000 babies who have been aborted in the U.S. since the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. We will pray for all women experiencing difficult and unexpected pregnancies, and that mothers and fathers receive the emotional support and resources to not only choose life for their child, but to love and care for them following birth.
“Now more than ever, may we all demonstrate compassion and provide support to those in need, with a special deference to mothers and children in need.” – Archbishop Rozanski
