About Sister Barbara Horenkamp: Sister Barbara Horenkamp, formerly Sister Mary Louis, entered religious life from Ascension Parish. She credits the Sisters of Divine Providence who taught her in grade school with influencing her decision to become a sister. She said of her life as a religious, “I see the Providence of God at work in my life every day. No matter what happens, good or bad, God is there in the midst of it, caring for me.” Self-described as funny, positive and competent, Sister Barbara enjoys reading, puzzles and keeping in touch with friends.

About Sister Sharon Nolte: Sister Sharon Nolte, formerly Sister Perpetua, was born in 1947 in Golden Eagle, Illinois, and entered the Sisters of Divine Providence in 1963. She professed her final vows in 1971. Sister Sharon has helped coordinate more than 25 religious pilgrimages to Europe. She also cares for her mother, Evelyn, and mentors many on their spiritual journey at Our Sorrowful Mother’s Ministry in Vandalia, Illinois. Sister Sharon was most influenced to enter religious life by several sisters she encountered during her childhood, including her grade school teachers. She describes herself as creative, prayerful, and enjoys adapting recipes and caring for plants. One of her favorite scriptures is Mark 6:32: “Set your hearts on his kingdom first, an on his righteousness, and all these other things will be given to you as well.”

About Sister Stephanie Turck, CDP: Sister Stephanie Turck, formerly Sister Martha, entered the Sisters of Divine Providence in 1963 from St. Elizabeth Church in Granite City, Illinois, and professed her final vows in 1971. She was most influenced to enter religious life by the Dominican Sisters at Sacred Heart in Granite City. She said, “Sister Renee Lawless, OP, was young, vibrant and talented. It was evident she loved her vocation and teaching ministry. She loved all her students and would do whatever it took for us to learn. She was always there for us, and we knew it. I wanted to be just like her.” Of what is most important to her within the charism of the community, Sister Stephanie said, “As I look around today, I see so many people who feel like they don’t belong, who are confused and struggling with family, jobs and illness and in search of something deeper. My goal is to be present to them in whatever I do, making God’s providence visible to them.” Self-described as compassionate, caring and hard working, Sister Stephanie enjoys photography, sewing, needlework and being part of the music ministry at St. Elizabeth’s in Granite City.

About Sister Patricia Ann Rodemann: Sister Patricia Ann Rodemann, formerly Sister Louis Marie, entered religious life from her home parish of St. Stanislaus in Wardsville, Missouri. Of who most influenced her decision to enter religious life, Sister Patricia Ann says, “My parents and family members have strong beliefs in faith. I (also) give credit to the Sisters of Divine Providence, especially the late Sister Mary Ann Haug. She invited me to work with her in the classroom preparing bulletin boards and other little things on the weekends. The sisters expressed their love and gratitude through their lives and their work.” Of how she sees herself living out her charism, Sister Patricia Ann says, “As a Sister of Divine Providence, I am called to be a living presence to all I come in contact. I minister by my presence among the elderly at the senior apartment complex where I live and at our homeless shelter. I have a genuine concern for those in need.” Self-described as compassionate, responsible and generous with time and talent, Sister Patricia Ann enjoys being outdoors, sewing, reading, listening to music, working number and word puzzles and being present with the homeless and elderly.
