About Sister M. Joan Baldino: At the request of our co-foundress, Venerable Mother Thecla Merlo, I was missioned to the United States in 1952, just six months after I made my first profession as a Daughter of St. Paul. I met our sisters in my home town of Osilo on the island of Sardegna in Italy. As a young girl, I always admired the sisters when they would come around our town. But I was too shy to speak with them. After witnessing them carrying out the mission and then helping them in the town, I decided to join the order. I love being a Daughter of St. Paul and helping to lead people to Jesus through the books and now all sorts of media. Some of the things I love doing are reading the pope’s latest talks and homilies on the internet, cooking and knitting baby blankets. I loved my time in St. Louis. I made many friends during my 11 years of service there. I don’t regret any day spent in St. Louis! I have been assigned to many of our locations, but St. Louis is very special. It was beautiful!
