A funeral Mass for Deacon Robert Roberson was to be celebrated April 24 at St. Joseph Church in Manchester. Deacon Roberson died April 14. He was 90 years old and had served as an active deacon for almost 30 years.
Deacon Roberson was married to Anne Louise Roberson who preceded him in death. Their children are Teresa Roberson Mullins, Jean Audrain, Norma Fanara, Bill Roberson and Cathy Dobrynski.
Deacon Roberson was ordained on Jan. 28, 1978, at the St. Louis Cathedral by Cardinal John J. Carberry. He was a member of the second permanent diaconate class to be ordained in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. He was assigned and assisted the pastor at All Saints Parish in University City, where he served as a deacon from 1978-94. He was later assigned to Holy Rosary Parish in Warrenton from 1994 until he entered into retirement status in 2006.
Deacon Roberson served by assisting at Mass, by presiding at baptisms, funeral services and weddings. Additionally, Deacon Roberson served his parish by leading RCIA classes, teaching PSR classes, marriage preparation, and making Communion calls to people who are homebound.
Deacon Roberson donated his body to science.
