Our Mission
The Office of Child and Youth Protection exists to create and maintain safe environments for young people and vulnerable adults within archdiocesan parishes, schools and agencies.
The responsibilities of the OCYP are to ensure that all archdiocesan parishes, schools and agencies implement safe environment standards as outlined in the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
The OCYP partners with parishes, schools and agencies to prevent incidents of abuse in all ministerial settings where children, young people and vulnerable adults are present.
The office also receives and responds to reports of historical clergy sexual abuse as well as any current concerns regarding potential incidents of abuse involving archdiocesan clergy and personnel. The OCYP also offers outreach and support to survivors of clergy sexual abuse.
Training
Our child sexual abuse prevention training, “Protecting God’s Children for Adults,” raises awareness and educate clergy, religious, employees and volunteers on the warning signs and indicators associated with incidents of sexual abuse.
