About Catechetical Formation
The ministry of a catechist is a vocation, an interior call of the Holy Spirit. It springs from the Sacrament of Baptism and is strengthened by the Sacrament of Confirmation. Commissioned by the Church, catechists participate in a divine calling to teach as Jesus did. Catechists need to be prepared for their apostolate through appropriate catechetical training.
The task of catechesis is sharing the teachings of Jesus Christ in such a way that a person comes to know about and believe in God, enters a relationship with God and is transformed by him. The definitive aim of catechesis, then, is to put people not only in touch but also in communion and intimacy with Jesus Christ through word and sacrament.
What We Do
With partnerships through the University of Dayton’s VLCFF and the University of Notre Dame’s McGrath Institute for Church Life, we offer the opportunity to take advantage of online courses covering theology, morality, scripture, spirituality, religious education and more.
All Catholics of the Archdiocese are encouraged to take these courses for their personal faith enrichment and for life-long learning and ongoing faith formation.
