This form can be used to request a general parish records search into the Archdiocese of St. Louis Archives.

If you are looking for records from an OPEN PARISH, that parish will hold its own records. Find contact information in the Parish Directory. Archives does not have many records from open parishes.

The Archdiocese of St. Louis Archives holds the records from closed parishes. There are not membership rosters nor tithing receipts of parishioners who attended the parish. It is possible there are other records that contain address information that may support your RECA application. Each parish may not have the same records, nor a complete set of records.

Please note that we cannot advise what the RECA Program will accept as documented proof for your claim. Please contact the Department of Justice RECA Program for further guidance.  

Fees

There is a nonrefundable $10 fee to search and certify the records. We cannot guarantee that we will locate relevant records on the person. Payment can be made via credit card or check, made out to the Archdiocese of St. Louis Archives:

  • Click the “Submit Online Payment” button after you submit the form.
  • Call us to relay your credit card information over the phone.
  • Mail payments to: Archdiocese of St. Louis Archives, 20 Archbishop May Drive, St. Louis MO 63119-5738.

Certification

Documents will be mailed to the name and address you provide below. In accordance with RECA guidelines, photocopies of records are certified by a signature, date and seal. A cover letter with the letterhead, signature, and date, will be attached stating, “The attached record(s) containing [#] pages pertaining to [NAME of person in question] is a true and accurate copy of a record kept in our files.” If applicable, it will include “Private information pertaining to other people has been redacted.” 

Submit ONE form per person and per parish. If a person attended multiple parishes, please fill out a separate form for a search on that person into the other parishes’ records.
