  • Together at Christmas 12/15/2019

Together at Christmas - St. Louis Metro Singers and guest orchestra, under the direction of Shawn Portell, sing a wide variety of Christmas sacred, gospel and seasonal pops. Sunday, December 15, 2019 @ 3:00 p.m. Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 1919 S. 7th St, St. Louis, 63104. Freewill Offering.

The St Louis Metro Singers celebrated its 32nd anniversary in January 2019. Since its beginning, the Chorus has entertained audiences at a variety of functions and locations, including annual seasonal concerts at Southwest Baptist Church, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and in Columbia, Illinois, for the Dorothy Weinel Eppinger Foundation. The St. Louis Metro Singers' annual Christmas concert at Southwest Baptist Church is recorded by KMOX radio and aired on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and its annual spring/summer fundraising concert has played to capacity audiences. The Chorus has also performed with the St. Louis Symphony and the Compton Heights Concert Band.

The St. Louis Metro Singers traces its musical tradition, in part, to The Cosmopolitan Singers, which started in the 1950s by Dr. Helen Louise Graves. That group was dissolved in 1986 upon the death of Dr. Graves and was succeeded by the St. Louis Metro Singers.

The St. Louis Metro Singers currently has a membership of about 80 quality voices from St. Louis City and County, Metro East, and neighboring communities. Its members represent varied ages and diverse backgrounds, but all have a common desire - to share their love of music with people throughout the St. Louis metropolitan and surrounding areas.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:

My husband, Edward and I have a blended family of 5 adult children, all married. We are blessed to have 11 grandchildren, 8 of which live in St. Louis. My family and Catholic faith are my top priorities. It has been a long and slow evolutionary growth process which is still progressing. Even though I was born into a Catholic family and attended Catholic grade school and high school, practicing my Catholic religion was just something I was told to do. As I approached adulthood, I found myself slipping away from my faith. Through challenges and struggles, over the years, instead of turning to God for help, I was determined to do it on my own. The harder I tried, the deeper into this world I sank. My faith rescue and transformation happened at just the right time and way, ‘God’s Time.’
