Sr. MacateA funeral Mass for Sister Helen Marie Macatee was celebrated April 27 in the chapel at Mount Carmel Bluffs in Dubuque, Iowa. Sister Helen Marie, 93, died April 19 at Mount Carmel Bluffs.
Born in Hollywood, California, she entered the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1947. She professed first vows in 1950 and final vows in 1955.
Sister Helen Marie taught math at St. Francis Xavier Elementary School in St. Louis from 1969-74 and 1976-83. She also taught in Iowa, Arizona, California, New York and Illinois. She was a secondary teacher in Zimbabwe, Africa, and served the congregation as a nurse and a driver.
Survivors include a brother, Leonard Macatee of Anchorage, Alaska. Burial was in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.
