Prayer Reflections for Evangelization

"The Church is an evangelizer, but she begins by being evangelized herself."

- Evangelization in the Modern World, 15

Prayer is always the first movement in Evangelization - it's the fuel for our mission. In the beginning of his document on Evangelization, Pope Francis says this:

"I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them; I ask all of you to do this unfailingly each day." - Joy of the Gospel, 3

This encounter with Christ reminds us what God has done for us and increases our desire for others to experience that same joy:

"The joy of evangelizing always arises from grateful remembrance: it is a grace which we constantly need to implore. The apostles never forgot the moment when Jesus touched their hearts: “It was about four o’clock in the afternoon” (Jn 1:39)." - Joy of the Gospel, 13

Below are prayer guides that includes scripture passages and excerpts from Church documents on Evangelization to help us contemplate how the Lord is asking us to respond to his invitation to mission.
