Obituary | Sr. Alice Regine Zipfel, CPPS

A funeral Mass for Sister Alice Regine Zipfel was celebrated March 7 at St. Joseph Chapel on the grounds of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood in O'Fallon.

Sister Alice Regine, 86, died March 3. A St. Louis native, Sister Alice Regine entered the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood in 1949 and professed her first vows in 1952. She earned a bachelor's degree in English at Fontbonne College and a masters' degree in early childhood education at Oklahoma City University. She also held a license in the Montessori method.

Sister Alice Regine served as an elementary teacher in Missouri at St. Maurus in Biehle, Our Lady of Fatima in Florissant, St. Mary in Glasgow, St. Henry in Charleston, St. Stephen Protomartyr in St. Louis, All Saints in St. Peters and as a teacher and administrator at Linda Vista Catholic School. She also taught at Most Precious Blood School in Chula Vista, Calif. She served as the administrator of the motherhouse retirement center from 1981-84, directress of sisters in temporary vows from 1985-86 and on the General Council from 1986-92. After retiring from teaching, she worked in the Ecclesiastical Art Department from 1994 until 2014 when she retired to St. Joseph Community.

Survivors include her brothers, Ralph and Bishop Paul Zipfel.
