OBITUARY | Deacon John “Jack” Burke

A funeral Mass for Deacon John “Jack” Burke was celebrated Oct. 29 at St. Joseph Church in Manchester. Deacon Burke died Oct. 24 at the age of 61.

He was married to Susan Burke (nee Mansfield); and father of James (Kathryn) Burke of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Matthew (Amy) Burke of St. Louis, and Ryan (Caty) Burke of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Deacon Burke was ordained on Aug. 29, 2020, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis by Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski. He was assigned and assisted the pastor at St. Joseph Parish in Manchester. In addition to assisting at Mass, Deacon Burke served his parish by presiding at baptisms, funeral services, weddings and Benediction.

He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, reaching the rank of Fourth Degree Knight. For the last five years, Deacon Burke was a key member of the RCIA Formation Team at the parish.

Burial was at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Manchester.
