Lobby day, march to Arch among major pro-life activities in March

Two major pro-life activities are coming up in Missouri in March.

Missouri Right to Life is sponsoring its “Show Me Life” Pro-Life Action Day, Tuesday, March 12, at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, Mo.

Participants will lobby legislators and encourage them to pass pro-life legislation. A noon rally in the first floor rotunda will feature Sue Thayer, a former Planned Parenthood manager who founded the Cornerstone for Life Pregnancy Center in Storm Lake, Iowa. She also works with 40 Days for Life as director of outreach.

Missouri Right to Life’s legislative priorities include enacting the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and a ban on dismemberment abortions; defunding of Planned Parenthood; two-custodial-parent notification for a minor to have an abortion; and a requirement to provide information on alternatives to abortion for women who are referred out of state for an abortion.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to wear red. Transportation from different areas of Missouri will be available. For more information, cal (573) 635-5110 or visit www.missourilife.org.

Coalition for Life St. Louis also is sponsoring its annual March on the Arch on Saturday, March 23. Participants will meet at Planned Parenthood in the Central West End and will walk to the St. Louis Gateway Arch Downtown. A return shuttle service will be provided.

Check-in begins at noon, and the march begins at 1 p.m. Premium registration is $10 and includes a T-shirt, priority return shuttle service and an itinerary and map. A free registration option includes an itinerary and map. Registration cost will increase on Feb. 23. To register or for more information, www.coalitionforlifestl.com
