Youth Ministry Coordinator Job Description
Purpose: to lead teens (6-12 grades) on a journey of faith into a deeper relationship with Christ.
Relational Ministry: Pray for teens, core team, staff and parishioners daily. Build meaningful, appropriate relationships with teenagers and parents and support them in their faith journeys. Meet with teens and/or parents as necessary. Protect the physical and emotional safety of all teens by following Protecting God’s Children guidelines, and prohibiting bullying/belittling.
Planning Events: Arrange events that promote faith, community, and the Church. Coordinate times, dates, locations, volunteers, chaperones, transportation, food, activities, and miscellaneous supplies, collect registrations and fees, communicate with the Archdiocesan offices and parents as necessary, and take steps to promote and encourage teens to attend.

o Mission Trip/Summer Service Week
o Totus Tuus (1st-12th grades)
o Steubenville Retreat
o Teen Led Retreat Weekend
o Various monthly socials and service activities

o Generation Life (8th grade only)
Planning programs: Develop a curriculum that is modern, engaging, stimulating, and fun with multi-faceted approaches to topics that will challenge young disciples to grow in their faiths. Arrange for food, supplies, decorations, and study materials as needed. Coordinate volunteers/band as needed.

• 5:30 Mass: Organize teen ushers for 5:30 mass to help with the collection, communion, bag Sunday, and potentially as lectors. Act at back-up sacristan
Core Team & Music Minister: Lead the adult volunteers in the planning and execution of events and programs. Encourage their ongoing formation through monthly core meetings, archdiocesan trainings, and personal relationships. Ensure that all adults in contact with teens are Protecting God’s Children certified. Communicate with the Lifeteen Band.
Parish Communication: Regularly update the website, social media platforms (Group Me & Instagram) and parish bulletin. Send newsletters via email to teens, parents, Core team, and Ascension staff.
Personal Discipleship: Attend archdiocesan trainings and youth minister gatherings as frequently as is prudent. Regularly pray and receive the Sacraments.
Nazareth Center: Keep the Nazareth Center and Supplies clean and organize. Advocate for improvements of the Nazareth Center.
