Senior Accountant

Position Summary:

We have a great opportunity to work directly with the parishes as a Senior Accountant. This position is part of the Shared Accounting Services (SAS) team and is responsible for timely, accurate and complete financial data of assigned parishes within the Archdiocese of St.Louis. This role will reside in the Washington, MO area.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process and/or reviews payroll
  • Prepare payroll tax filings, payments, and reports
  • Prepare and file reports and payments for employee benefits
  • Verify bank deposits and cash receipts, reviews and reconciles tuition contracts and payments
  • Review vouchers including coding and payment of outstanding invoices
  • Prepare and records general ledger journal entries
  • Reconcile monthly general ledger account balances as prescribed
  • Prepare monthly financial statements as prescribed
  • Prepare and monitor parish budgets as prescribed
  • Meet with pastors and parish finance councils as needed
  • Produce each month an average of 140 hours of approved billable work after completion of what management deems to be an appropriate training period

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance plus a minimum of three years of experience with general ledger, payroll, accounts payable and receivable and cash receipts
  • Experience using QuickBooks
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and government regulations
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from pastors, parish finance councils, and SAS Management
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
