Maintenance Supervisor

Apreferred applicant will have the ability to perform electrical, plumbing,carpentry, painting and mechanical repairs as needed and possess considerableknowledge of custodial and janitorial supplies, equipment and materials as wellas methods used in janitorial work

Theapplicant must be able to:

  • Lift 50 – 75 lbs., climb ladders, andstand for long periods of time.
  • Workwith machinery and equipment requiring considerable caution
  • Handleexposure to climate changes and uncomfortable temperatures
  • Workoff ladders and stepladders
  • Workunder sinks and around appliances by bending down or lying on your back
  • Readand be able to comprehend repair instructions and programming of systems
  • Usethe internet and possess basic computer skills


  • Maintainthe exterior of all parish buildings in a clean, safe and orderly manner
  • Maintainall parish grounds in a clean and safe manner including cutting grass (excludingthe cemetery) and general gardening
  • Performmonthly clean-up of the cemetery
  • Maintainand repair parish-owned grounds equipment
  • Providesnow removal services for parish properties as required
  • Maintainan inventory of supplies as needed for the maintenance and grounds keeping ofthe parish
  • Collectand dispose of trash from all parish buildings except school classrooms
  • Cleanthe church interior, lavatory, vestibule, choir loft, chapel and sacristy on aweekly basis
  • Changecandles in church and maintain stock supply
  • Performweekly check of Schulte Hall
  • PrepSchulte Hall for weekend use
  • Maintainwater system and sewer plant. Includes daily water tests and monthlywater samples
  • HVACfilter check/clean/change
  • Monitorlight bulbs, smoke detectors, clocks, water softener pellets, etc.
  • Monthlyplayground and bleacher inspections
  • Cleankitchen stove hood monthly
  • Whenschool is in session: provide on call support for emergency repair andclean up, close parking lot after drop off, set up and break down cafeteria,dispose of trash after lunch, open parking lot for dismissal.
  • Provideassistance as needed for set up of facilities, including the hauling or movingof items and the picking up of parts or other equipment as requested by theParish Administration
  • Notifythe Parish Administration of any major maintenance of any parish propertiesrequiring use of outside contractors. Coordinate with volunteers or contractorsto accomplish the required maintenance
  • Provideany general maintenance or assistance as directed by the Parish and SchoolAdministration


  • Mustbe a self-starter
  • Performthe work assigned in a timely manner with accurate accounting of time worked
  • Clearcommunication regarding the scheduling of extraordinary maintenance and specialrequests
  • Enthusiasticsupport of the parish goals and objectives
  • Positiveattitude and pleasant cooperation with the pastor and all other employees ofthe parish
  • Maintenanceof confidentiality appropriate to the position held
  • Compliancewith the Safe Environment Program, including background checks
  • Adherenceto the Archdiocese of St. Louis Code of Employee Conduct
  • Keeproutine records and make reports
