Maintenance supervisor

St. Francis Borgia Regional High School, located in Washington, Missouri, has an opportunity for a full-time Maintenance Supervisor. This position provides maintenance for high school buildings and grounds, including semi-skilled carpentry, simple plumbing and electrical work, painting and other minor repair work; troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and electrical systems; conducts preventative maintenance inspections and performs required maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning and filter changes. Grounds work includes mowing, pruning, and ice and snow removal with grounds equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and perform routine and preventative maintenance for school facilities, including buildings and fields, concessions stands, etc.
  • Cleans and supervises cleaning of buildings and campus. Mops and vacuums floors, cleans bathrooms, washes windows and performs other cleaning activities as directed
  • Maintains grounds: mows, weeds, prunes and rakes, waters and edges lawns; maintains turf and grass fields; performs snow removal with, plows, hand shovels and other equipment; Performs minor maintenance on buildings
  • Provides other general assistance as needed through set-up of tables and chairs in facilities, as requested
  • Hauling and moving items and picking up parts or other equipment as requested by staff
  • Collects and disposes of trash and garbage
  • Reports cleaning and grounds maintenance inventory needs to supervisor
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies for maintaining buildings and grounds, lighting and cleaning and orders supplies as needed/requested
  • Oversee and supervise contracted custodians and maintenance personnel
  • Obtain contractor bids for major repairs and present proposals to Maintenance Committee and President for review and approval
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Committee on building conditions, projects and repair status
  • Develop, oversee and follow annual budget

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:

  • Knowledge of and experience with light carpentry work required
  • Knowledge of and experience with minor building repairs
  • Some janitorial experience preferred
  • Knowledge and use of industrial strength cleaning chemicals
  • Must have strong work ethic, good analytical and communication skills with basic mechanical aptitude and capability

Skills & Attitudes Required for Success in Job:

  • General knowledge and support of the Catholic Church, Catholic sacraments, Catholic rites and liturgies
  • Must have necessary mechanical skills and the ability to work safely with machinery and equipment requiring considerable caution
  • Must have ability to perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision and be self-motivated
  • Must have good interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to tolerate varying temperatures and climate changes
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and stand for long periods
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule with possible evening and/or weekend hours
  • On-call availability for emergencies

Relationships Requirements:

Must be able to work well with the President, members of the Maintenance Committee, School Administration, other maintenance staff, faculty, school employees, students, parents and volunteers
