The Director of Discipleship serves under the direction of the Pastor and collaborates with our parish leadership staff, Missionary Team, parish council and other parish ministries to cast a vision and establish strategies to accomplish our parish mission. We welcome all and provide opportunities for every person to grow in holiness and draw closer to Jesus Christ – every day and at every stage of life. This position will promote the development and integration of faith formation for adults.
The Director is responsible for the creation and overall administration and management of the Missionary Team.
•Establish an overall plan to form intentional disciples of Jesus Christ through an integrated
program of faith formation and overall parish programming for adults.
•Together with the pastor and the leadership team, help to shape, formulate and direct
programming that enables the formation of intentional disciples and lifelong growth in the Catholic faith.
•Integrate parish efforts toward discipleship and evangelization with parish leadership team, councils and ministries.
•Create and implement systems to evaluate the effectiveness of formation programs to ensure
that the needs of the community are being met.
•Create Missionary Team to implement ways to reach out to parishioners who are inactive in their faith as well as the unchurched in our community.
•Develop goals, objectives, and action plans and schedules for Missionary Team.
•Support parish programs that nourish and form parishioners in their faith.
•Provide guidance and direction for the establishment and ongoing support for small group
discipleship in the parish.
•Be present frequently at weekend Masses and at significant parish events in an effort to know
and be known by parishioners.
•Serve as the staff liaison seeking out and engaging parishioners to serve on teams, councils and ministries.
•Work closely with Director of Evangelization and Communications to develop and promote programs and opportunities for faith development.
•Work collegially with the priests, deacons, staff members and volunteers.
•Attend archdiocesan and regional conferences for continuing education and spiritual formation.
•Serve as a member of the parish leadership team representing the Missionary Team at
•Schedule will include some evening and weekend work to allow for periodic events and meetings, depending on program schedules.
•Attend all staff meetings and other staff activities as required.
•Participate in staff activities appropriate to one's role including but not limited to staff meetings, shared ministry celebrations, staff team-building events such as staff retreat days, etc.

•Performance will be measured against the functions described within, compliance with parish policy and procedures, and progress toward and completion of mutually agreed upon annual personal goals and objectives.
•Collaborate with the Business Manager to maintain an annual budget; assure that all programs operate within their budget guidelines.
•Follow archdiocesan policies regarding staff and volunteer interaction with children and
•Degree in Catholic Studies, Religious Education, or related field required.
•Experience working in parish faith formation programs.
•Practicing Roman Catholic.
•Demonstrate understanding and acceptance of Catholic doctrine.
•Ability to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check.
•Excellent computer and communication skills.
•Must maintain confidentiality in all matters.
•Familiarity Missionary Discipleship and/or FOCUS programming
•Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
•Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
