The Director of Academic Programs & Planning serves as the chief academic officer for preK–12 education. In collaboration with administrative colleagues in the Office of Catholic Education and Formation (OCEF), this leadership role drives the vision and strategic planning to impact instruction and accelerate achievement.


•Collaborates with educational leaders to develop the short and long-term vision and planning for academic excellence throughout the Archdiocese.

•Develops, coordinates, and evaluates curriculum and instruction based on researched best practices.

•Provides an organized, consistent, and relevant body of research information to achieve goals of excellence and equity.

•Monitors and guides vertical and horizontal curricular coherence and alignment of the preK–12 spectrum.

•Develops and directs a program of data analysis to drive improvements in teaching and learning.

•Oversees the formulation of and adherence to Archdiocesan academic policies and procedures.

•Ensures the implementation of an effective and meaningful evaluation process for academic staff professionals.

•Assists OCEF annually in developing appropriate instructional and professional development budgets.

•Collaborates with school leaders and OCEF on instituting professional development opportunities based on needs assessments of each school and the Archdiocese as a whole.

•Coordinates a comprehensive program of training, implementation, and assessment of Professional Learning Communities.

•Collaborates on the continual accreditation of Archdiocesan schools.

•Directs planning, implementation, and assessment of personnel and programs in place for addressing different learning needs.

•Prepares appropriate reports for presentation and review as necessitated by individual schools, regions, and other constituents within the Archdiocesan school system.

•Success as a visionary leader.

•Minimum five years of demonstrated experience directing and assessing curriculum and instructional initiatives.

•Teaching experience.

•Background in designing professional development programs.

•Strong analytical skills for data analysis and data-based decision-making.

•Experience with both elementary and secondary education preferred.


•Excellent coaching and communication skills.

•Collaborative style, yet decisive in decision-making.

•Willingness to travel regularly throughout the Archdiocese for school site-visits.

•Ability to engender enthusiasm for the mission with all stakeholders.

Educational Expectations:

•Master’s degree in an area of education: educational administration, curriculum and instruction, instructional technology, educational leadership, educational policy, teaching and learning, etc…(M.A., M.Ed., M.A.T.).

•Doctorate in an area of education preferred (Ph.D., Ed.D.).
