The internship, as defined, includes a stipend and an optional housing and meal plan and offers the opportunity to meet and interact with leaders in the St. Louis region business community


Temporary full-time position: May 17, 2021 - May 31, 2022 (Negotiable)


The Catholic Student Center at Washington University (CSC) is a house of Catholic formation and community of hospitality for students of all faiths. The CSC strives to form students intellectually, morally, socially, and spiritually, according to the wisdom of the Catholic Church.


Position Summary

The Communications Intern creates and produces digital and print media, coordinates social media engagements and performs other related tasks as directed, while exercising creative expression and utilizing a vast array of media. The intern reports directly to the Director of Advancement, but also works closely with the Director of Ministry and other staff members.


Duties and Responsibilities

●Participate in the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy.

●Create print and digital media campaigns for diverse audiences, events and publications.

●Collect and organize stories, photographs and videos from qualified programming.

●Maintain and design website content.

●Photograph and video CSC events, which may be outside normal working hours.

●Collaborate with CSC staff to develop content and deliverables.

●Assure consistent execution in all printed and digital communications in terms of brand voice and adherence to the established style guide.


Qualifications

●Undergraduate degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing/PR, Digital Media, Journalism, Creative Writing or related field

●One-to-three years of experience in communications or marketing, in a design or copywriting role (Inclusive of other internship experiences.)

●Experience with Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and other Social Media platforms

●Professional web and graphic design capabilities

●Written and oral communication skills

●Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

●Time management skills

●Preferred: Experience with photography and videography, Sketch, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro or similar applications.


Compensation

●Optional participation in the Jerry and Judy Kent Intern-in-Service program, a ten-month initiative geared towards individuals who seek to grow personally, professionally and spiritually, and to support the mission of the CSC. Program requires participation in spiritual formation and service activities, and provides housing and a meal plan.

●Monthly stipend of $440 to assist with personal expenses.


Hiring Timeline

Applications, inclusive of noted requirements, are due March 15. Offers will be extended by April 15. Internship will start on May 17, 2021 and end on May 31, 2022.
