We have an immediate opening for a full-time Assistant Controller. This role assists the Archdiocesan Controller with the execution and oversight of financial activities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis by performing the following duties.
Duties & Responsibilities
•Develops and prepares management reports which summarize financial and certain operational activities in a clear, concise and analytical manner.
•Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, revenue and expenses, and prepares balance sheet, statement of activities, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected financial position for the Controller.
•Reviews preparation of annual budgets and quarterly performance reports.
•Assists with the coordination of the annual audit of all entities that comprise the combined financial statements of the Archdiocese.
•Coordinates implementation of corrective responses to external auditors’ annual management letter comments.
•Assists with the interpretation and implementation of changes in the accounting standards.
•Recommends new, and modifications to existing, financial and accounting policies, practices and procedures.
•Manages special projects as directed by the Controller.
•Other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
•CPA preferred; Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
•Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
•Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
