  • Pro-Life Mass of Thanksgiving 08/11/2022

Saint Anselm Parish gives thanks for the life-affirming decision by the Supreme Court of the United States of America at a Mass of Thanksgiving on Thursday, August 11 at 7 p.m. in the Abbey Church.

This candlelight Mass, concelebrated by Father Aidan McDermott and Abbot Thomas Frerking, and the homily offered by Father Francis Hein, is sponsored by Saint Anselm’s Cenacle for Life to commemorate the historic overturning of Roe v. Wade, making abortion no longer a Constitutional right.

We will place 63 lit candles at the foot of the altar, each one representing over 1,000,000 babies who have been aborted in the U.S. since the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. We will pray for all women experiencing difficult and unexpected pregnancies, and that mothers and fathers receive the emotional support and resources to not only choose life for their child, but to love and care for them following birth.

“Now more than ever, may we all demonstrate compassion and provide support to those in need, with a special deference to mothers and children in need.” – Archbishop Rozanski

Assessing Contemporary Science in the Light of Faith

Presenter: Dr. Stacy Trasancos

Join us on Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 9:00 to 11:00 am central.

Today we hear, “Follow the science!” People use that idiom as if to say that science is the path to all truth and that if we follow where science leads, we will never be led astray. But science doesn’t work like that. The Catholic Church has a long history, codified in Genesis and professed still in our Creed, that science is the study of the handiwork of God. Science is a search for truth, but it must be guided by the light of faith. Dr. Trasancos will tell about her efforts to reunite contemporary science back with theology and philosophy in a more mature way than the Middle Ages when science was first born of Christianity. To authentically follow science in the light of faith will be the way to true progress in technology that benefits humanity, both in this world and the one to come.

The webinar fee is $10.

Free of charge: ITEST members, clergy, seminarians, and consecrated religious. Donations are appreciated.
