“Pack the Pool” for the Care Service

Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service will host a “Pack the Pool” swim party and food collection from 7:30-10 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Wapelhorst Park in St. Charles. With food donations typically lower in the summer months, the Care Service seeks to stock its food pantry shelves to ensure that families will have enough to eat all summer long. Admission is $10 per person, which includes pool entry and light refreshments. Participants also are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items. A community-wide collection of non-perishable food items also will take place at various locations in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties the weekend of June 7 and 8. For more information or to purchase tickets for the pool party, visit www.jacares.org/events.

Breast cancer healing Mass

A Mass for those who have been affected by breast cancer will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, June 8, at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2618 S. Brentwood Blvd. in Brentwood. Survivors and patients as well as family members and friends are welcome. The Mass will offer those in attendance the opportunity to join their sufferings with Christ in prayer for peace and healing of all. Msgr. Timothy Cronin will be the celebrant. A reception will be held afterward. The Mass is organized by the archdiocesan Respect Life Apostolate.

Bruised and Wounded event

Father Ron Rolheiser, OMI, will speak on “Bruised and Wounded: Struggling to Understand Suicide” at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at St. Joseph Parish Corpus Christi Center, 6020 Old Antonia Road in Imperial. Father Rolheiser is the author of “Bruised and Wounded” and will offer insights to help remove the taboo of suicide and reclaim the memory of loved ones. The talk will kick off the Southern Vicariate’s series of evening programs designed to address the pain of suicide. To register, visit stlreview.com/3WH5aF7
