St. Joseph celebrates 150 years

Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski celebrated a Mass in honor of the 150th anniversary of St. Joseph Parish in Josephville Oct. 9. The parish was established in 1872, and parishioners helped construct the bricks and cut timber from their farms for the church building. All Saints Day celebration

Families are invited to visit the Daughters of St. Paul on the feast of All Saints, Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Pauline Books & Media, 9804 Watson Road in Crestwood. Holy Hour for vocations

A Holy Hour for priestly and religious vocations will be held from 7-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the Monastery of St. Clare (Poor Clare nuns), 200 Marycrest Drive in south St. Louis County. The monastery is located off the 6000 block of Telegraph Road.

Funeral Rites or Wrongs?

Msgr. William McCumber will give a presentation, “Funeral Rites or Wrongs?” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Assumption Church, 403 North Main Street in O’Fallon. The presentation will take place in Room A of the Parish Center. Msgr. McCumber will discuss the role of Christian funerals in commending the dead to God, raising the hope of its children and giving witness to its own faith in the future resurrection of the baptized with Christ. He also will discuss the Church’s funeral rites, including the vigil, liturgical celebration and burial committal. Pre-planning of funerals, choosing readings, hymnody and discussing how family and friends might be involved in the funeral liturgy also will be discussed. Day of reflection
