UPCOMING EVENTS

Evening of Trust

Taizé St. Louis will host several Evening of Trust events in the next month. This month, they are scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, at Nerinx Hall High School, 530 E. Lockwood Ave. in Webster Groves; 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 2761 Telegraph Raod in south St. Louis County; and 7 p.m. Friday, April 28, at St. Cletus Church, 2705 Zumbehl Road in St Charles. A program for youth is planned at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at Incarnate Word Church, 13416 Olive Blvd. in Chesterfield. The evening is a preparation for the Pilgrimage of Trust on Memorial Day weekend which will bring together people of various backgrounds and focus on common prayer in the style of the ecumenical Taizé community in France. Human Trafficking

The St. Charles Outreach Coalition Against Human Trafficking is sponsoring a conference on "Breaking the Chains of Human Trafficking" Thursday, April 27, at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd. in Creve Coeur. The conference begins with registration at 9 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. Sponsor organizations include the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood of O'Fallon, the School Sisters of Notre Dame and the Racine Dominicans, with the Migrant and Immigrant Commmunity Action Project as one of the partner organizations. The conference is presented at no charge thanks to a grant from the American Association of University Women.

Mother 2 Mother

A "Mother 2 Mother" presentation featuring the stories of five black women telling their stories about raising their teenage sons will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 1 at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 5901 Kerth Road in south St. Louis County. Men and women are welcome. Captain Ron Johnson of the Missouri Highway Patrol and head of the Ferguson Unified Forces will participate in the evening of listening and healing. Desserts will be served in the parish hall following the presentation.

Ursuline golf classic

The annual UA Golf Classic will be Monday, May 8 at Sunset Country Club. The festivities start at 10:30 a.m. with registration, lunch and driving range, then golfing begins at noon with a shotgun start. The post-round reception is 5-7 p.m. The entry fee is $200 per golfer, and $50 per nongolfer for the post-round reception. The day's events include a silent auction during all activities, par 3 hole-in-one prizes and a par-5 challenge to win a Pebble Beach golf experience. Volunteers are needed as well. The Voice from Assisi

Cathedral Concerts has added a concert at the end of its season, Friday, May 12, featuring Friar Alessandro, "The Voice from Assisi." The Franciscan Friar from Assisi has recorded three CDs and a PBS television special of one of his concerts in the basilica in Assisi. The concert is at 8 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, 4431 Lindell Blvd. in the Central West End of St. Louis. Inn Crowd

"Breaking Down Barriers: Creating Possibilities" is the theme of the ninth annual Breakfast with the Inn Crowd to benefit Room at the Inn from 7 to 9 a.m. Friday, May 12, at the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel, 9801 Natural Bridge Road. Naming and Commendation Mass

A Mass and Rite of Naming and Commendation of an Infant Who Has Died Before Birth will take place Saturday, May 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Simon Church, 11011 Mueller Road in south St. Louis County. The Mass and rite are for anyone who has lost a baby due to miscarriage, accident or abortion.

Marriage on Tap

Worldwide Marriage Encounter will host "Marriage on Tap St. Louis," a date night for couples who wish to enrich their marriages, on Tuesday, May 16, at The Pasta House Company, 8231 Delmar Blvd. in University City. Vince and Marianne Burkemper, who have been married for 30 years, will talk about living their faith as a family. Buffet dinner (with cash bar) is $22.50 per person.
