Genealogy Research

The sacramental records, including baptism, marriage, confirmation, first communion and death, are organized by parish, then chronological. They are not indexed electronically. Therefore, it is necessary to know which parishes to look at for a person’s records. The following interactive map contains all of the parishes within the bounds of the Archdiocese of St. Louis since 1956

By searching the address of residence, you can see which churches were closest to where your ancestor(s) lived. Or, you can narrow down by ethnicity.

We do not conduct genealogical research due to limited resources, but luckily, there are several other options for you to pursue sacramental records.

For those wishing to conduct geneaological research, microfilm of the Archdiocese of St. Louis Sacramental Registers is available for use at the St. Louis County Library Special Collections. The County Library will do look-ups of sacramental information for offsite patrons. Please contact them for more information. The Library welcomes genealogists to use their wide range of genealogical and local history books, materials, databases and online subscriptions.

The St. Louis Genealogical Society  will also conduct family research for genealogists. The Society is an expert in resources available in the area, and also houses a small research library, computers with genealogical software, and microform for St. Louis area research. Please contact them for more information.

The microfilm is also available for loan through the Family History Library.
