The Annual Catholic Appeal pledge drive, originally scheduled to take place in most parishes April 18-19, April 25-26 and May 2-3, has been delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The collection will be held in parishes at a later date. Parishioners may still donate to the Appeal online at www.aca.archstl.org.
Funds from the Annual Catholic Appeal in the Archdiocese of St. Louis support a wide range of programs and ministries crucial to people in need.
Several examples that you’ll read on the links below include a woman who hit rock bottom from alcoholism; a couple enduring hardships that led to adoption; and children in a Montessori-based religious program that develops and nurtures their faith and helps them participate more fully in the Mass. All benefited from programs funded by the appeal.

Witness
The theme of the 2020 Annual Catholic Appeal is: “Because We Are Catholic.” Brian Niebrugge, executive director of stewardship and the Annual Catholic Appeal, noted, “Together as one Church, we reach out to people in need not because they are Catholic, but because we are Catholic.”
The work of the archdiocese supported by the appeal makes Christ visible “through our unity,” he said.
The appeal funds programs such as the Rural Parish Clinic providing medical care to people in need; the Criminal Justice Ministry supporting people who are incarcerated and those returning to the St. Louis area; Catholic education assisting children with a sense of purpose and value; parish food pantries serving people who are hungry; the Catholic Deaf Ministry providing a central home for people who are deaf to receive the sacraments and faith formation; and much more
Giving to the Annual Catholic Appeal changes lives and enables Catholics to give witness to their faith, Archbishop Robert J. Carlson said. Jesus sends people out to bring His life and light to others, he said, and “that universal mission, to go out to everyone because we are Catholic, is central to the work supported by the Annual Catholic Appeal.”
Archbishop Carlson said the people of the archdiocese have been so generous in the past, which has led to a tremendous impact on services provided by the archdiocese.
How to donate
The financial goal of the 2020 Annual Catholic Appeal is $14.5 million. Approximately 91 cents of every dollar raised goes back into the community in the form of direct services.
