The Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation was founded in 1990 as a 501(c)(3) organization by a concerned group of local corporate and civic leaders. The Foundation provides needs based tuition assistance scholarships to economically disadvantaged children throughout the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
In 1999, the Foundation began funding and administering the Elizabeth Lay Midlam/Children’s Scholarship Fund program that promotes school choice, regardless of school affiliation, to financially disadvantaged urban families. This program received over 10,000 applications for 500 scholarships.
The St. Louis School Choice Scholarship Fund, a similar program, was added in 2000 for 750 students.
In 2007, the Help for Today - Hope for Tomorrow Kindergarten program for 100 city of St. Louis students to attend city, Catholic elementary schools was introduced. There are currently 63 students in the program.
The Help For Today - Hope For Tomorrow Kindergarten through 4th Grade Program was introduced for the 2008-2009 school year. 613 students are receiving scholarships, which will follow them through their 8th grade graduation.
Since its inception, Today and Tomorrow has raised more than $25 million for tuition assistance in the form of grants and scholarships for children to attend the private or parochial school of their choice.
