In a year of “firsts,” St. Louis Catholic Academy proudly sponsored the school’s first-ever class trip. The eighth graders traveled to Memphis, Tennessee and experienced the culture and history of that great river city. Highlights included trips to the Burkle Estate (used in the Underground Railroad), the National Civil Rights Museum, the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Beale Street, Mud Island and the Memphis Zoo (one of only four places in the Western Hemisphere where pandas can be seen). It was a fun and educational trip, and Catholic Academy is proud of the Class of 2009 for establishing a new school tradition.
Read, Right, & Run is a program our school participated in through spring 2009. The idea behind the program was to engage children in reading, as well as performing good deeds for the community and promoting healthy lifestyles. This was a great opportunity for our school to promote healthy lifestyles through reading, “righting” the community, and running.
