Annual Catholic Appeal
Our faith is lived in schools and parishes, soup kitchens and counseling centers, on street corners and in churches, where people of all backgrounds in every neighborhood of the Archdiocese of St. Louis are served.
Your gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal helps support the necessary financial needs of our schools, parishes and programs in the Archdiocese. Your gift touches the lives of the unborn, the student, the infirmed, the elderly, the widow, the homeless and those suffering from injustice.

Charitable Rollover Extension Signed into Law
The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 was recently signed into law which includes an extension of the IRA Charitable Rollover. The extension is retroactive, applying to distributions made throughout both 2008 and 2009 tax years. The extension will allow individuals 70-1/2 or older to donate up to $100,000 in each year when transferred directly from a traditional or Roth IRA to charities without paying taxes on the distributions. For more information contact Mr. Frank J. Cognata, Jr., Chief Development Officer for the Archdiocese of Saint Louis at 314-633-2231.
Use Ira Charitable Rollover articles in your bulletins and newsletters to announce this good news to your donors.

Stewardship and Confirmation
Confirmation is a perfect time to teach young Catholics about the call and responsibility of stewardship. Yet, often Confirmation is so focused on the “service project” that the vision of stewardship as a total way of life is not adequately shared with the students. When we teach students to give service without also helping them see that their service must flow from their connection with Jesus, then we are really just teaching them to be good volunteers, not faith-filled stewards.
