Since its inception, the Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation has grown into the 4th largest elementary school scholarship organization in the United States and raised more than $150 million from local and national funding sources to provide need-based tuition assistance scholarships, enabling thousands of children to attend the parochial or private elementary school of their choice in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Position Summary:

Reporting to TTEF’s Board of Directors chairperson, the Executive Director (ED) has strategic and operational responsibility for TTEF’s staff, programs, resource development, vision, and execution of its mission. The ED will be an enthusiastic champion of the mission of TTEF, conveying the relevance and importance of its cause to stakeholders. Likewise, the ED will bring leverage to deepen relationships with current supporters and to, develop their own connections within the education-based nonprofit space to further TTEF’s mission. The ED will have a distinguished track record of strong leadership and achievement in business, government, or non-profit management, with particular strengths in communications, resource development, strategic planning, and general management.

Position Responsibilities:

Executive Leadership and Organizational Management:

• Provide visionary executive leadership that is transparent and empowering in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission

• Present strategies and plans for organization impact and gain Board approval as needed to carry out the work of the mission of the organization

Perform general management duties overseeing the day to day operations of the organization to ensure its overall successful operations

• Organize, motivate and mentor team members to strategically grow TTEF’s impact, programs, fundraising and to effectively fulfill the mission

• Manage and motivate the TTEF team, overseeing processes such as hiring, staff development, performance management, and compensation and benefits

• Inspire a professional, positive, mission and results-driven culture across the organization that encourages team collaboration

Development and Fundraising:

Lead revenue growth through successful development efforts

Provide strategic direction and oversight for development and fundraising efforts for TTEF and associated entities

Cultivate, develop, manage and steward prospect and donor relationships

Financial Management and Administration:

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all administrative and operational functions of the organization

Prudently direct resources and manage all financials within budget

Ensure TTEF’s financial stability and sustainability

Maintain regular and ongoing communication to build strong relationships with the Board, providing leadership and support to members at all times

Required Education, Competencies, and Experience:

• Previous experience as a CEO, Executive Director or other C-suite position at a non-profit, foundation, government, or industry

• Mission-driven, possessing an affinity and passion for education, access, and the overall mission of TTEF

• Strong business acumen and a history of providing visionary leadership at the executive level

• Proven experience meeting and exceeding fundraising goals through the implementation of a comprehensive and strategic development plan with an emphasis on major gifts.

• A demonstrated history of effectively managing a program-based or corporate organization and staff

• Strong resource development, marketing, and external relations experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders to garner support for a cause

• Experience and success in motivating, recruiting, developing, retaining, and mentoring high performance, mission-driven, and results-oriented teams

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate presenter with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• Bachelor’s degree required
