Obituary | Deacon Frank R. Danna Sr.

A funeral Mass for Deacon Frank R. Danna Sr. was celebrated May 31 at Holy Rosary Church in Warrenton. Deacon Danna died May 23 at the age of 89.

A native of St. Louis, he graduated from Chaminade College Preparatory High School. He continued his education at St. Mary’s University in Texas, followed by Saint Louis University. Deacon Danna worked in banking and was the president of several mortgage companies. He married Margaret (Vatterott) Danna on Dec. 28, 1950. She died in December 2016.

Archbishop John L. May ordained him to the permanent diaconate in 1985. He was assigned to St. Joseph Parish in Cottleville where he worked until his employment took him later in 1985 to the Diocese of Phoenix. He remained in Phoenix until May 1992, when he returned to St. Louis and was assigned to All Saints Parish in St. Peters. In September 1993, he was again transferred to Phoenix where he remained in active ministry until his retirement in 2006. He remained incardinated in the Archdiocese of St. Louis and returned to St. Louis, residing with his family in Wright City this past year.

In his ministry, he performed the sacramental functions of a deacon, but his real love was in hospital ministry where he spent most of his active ministry.

Survivors include his children, Maria Richet, Frank Rocco Danna Jr., Jeannett Eichenberger, Catherine Danna, Theresa Danna-Douglas, Eugenio Danna, Bernadette Baer and Patricia Premo; two sisters, Joan Vienhage and Debra Hoosack, and two brothers, Ralph Danna and Ron Danna; 28 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Burial was in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Cemetery in Luebbering.
