Mexican Immersion Reflection Print E-mail
Friday, 09 May 2008

Bradley is a Junior at St. Mary’s High School and a member of Assumption Parish. He participated in the March 2008 Uxpanapa, Mexico Immersion Trip with Nerinx Hall, St. John Vianney, and St. Mary’s students.

BradleyI have learned a lot about Mexico. I now know what it feels like to not live a great life. I have learned to not take everything for granted. In Mexico they used what they had available to them. I now live everyday like I don't have everything and I use more of what I have instead of going out and getting something that is readily available to me. I now see that everyone in the world doesn't have everything and that they use what they have and make do with it.

I learned more about myself because I was doing things that I normally wouldn't do at home. I think everyone would enjoy this trip because you really get to experience new things and see a different culture up close. I worked on the new basketball court on the first day of work and then I went out to the farm and took a machete to the field so that we could build a green house for the other days I worked. We prayed every morning and went to a three hour mass one night. I and another kid from Vianney stayed in a Mexican’s house with one Mexican kid that was on his spring break.
