What motivated you to work with people in a foreign mission country?
 I was given the opportunity to go to Kenya for six full weeks. At first, I was a little unsure of the whole thing. I would be about twenty hours away from home and I knew absolutely nothing about Kenya except that they were not in good standing with the United States. After awhile, something in me wanted to go through with this trip. I think what motivated me was that Kenya was so different then anything I was used to that I wanted to experience firsthand the people, the culture, and the environment of the country. I also wanted to help in any way possible by tutoring the Kenya students so that they could continue moving up the education chain.
What was your best and most meaningful experience while volunteering in a foreign mission country?
 The most meaning experience that I had was the day before we left a village named Oribe De Alba in Mexico. All of the missionaries went up to the front of church and thanked the village people for everything they did for us. Right after I was finished thanking everyone, I saw Fernando, a six year-old boy that I got really close with, cry his eyes out. Until that point I did not realize my impact I had on him. This is a moment that I will never forget as long as I live. Fernando has a special place in my heart.
What impact has volunteering abroad had on the way you live your everyday life?
 Volunteering abroad has changed the way I live my everyday life in many ways. First, it makes me appreciate everything that I have been given in my life. I also don't take anything for granted anymore. Second, it has made me realize that people here in this country need my help as well. Some examples of this are Neighbors Assisting Neighbors, TASK (Team Activities for Special Needs Kids), and Big Brother. My experiences abroad has helped me to become a more caring and open-minded person.
