December 2007: Being Pontifical Runs in the Family! Print E-mail
Jacob and PopeIt seems as though Pope Benedict XVI has a new follower! Jacob Heckstetter, grandson of Mission Office bookkeeper Connie Heckstetter, recently enjoyed seeing the Pope on TV during the Heckstetter Family’s Christmas Eve celebration. Jacob’s Christmas presents had all been opened, and parents Danny and Steph were busy cleaning up the wrapping paper and bows. The TV was playing the rebroadcast of the midnight Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, when Jacob began paying close attention to who was on the screen. “When the TV started to show close-ups of the Pope, Jacob suddenly took a great interest and crawled over, pulled himself up and, as the picture shows, was captivated by the Pope,” Connie said. “I couldn't resist getting a picture. He must have stood and watched for 5 minutes, which was longer than any individual toy held his attention that evening!”

So does this mean we have a future Pontifical Mission Societies worker on our hands? Of course, Grandma Connie and Grandpa Dan think so - perhaps a future Pope is in our midst!
