Hi folks,
We wanted to update you on some of our recent adventures. Highlights so far have included: visiting el Hospital Divina Providencia, where Monsenor Romero was murdered by US trained assassins while celebrating Mass, visiting the Jesuit University of Central America, where we visited the chapel and residence of the 6 Jesuits and their two housekeepers that were murdered in 1989 by US trained assassins, and going to Mass Sunday in the crypt of the Metropolitan Cathedral where Monsenor Romero is buried. It was a very moving service where the celebrant was exhorting the people to keep fighting for justice. There was a group of Honduran pilgrims in attendance that had come to pay homage to Monsenor Romero.
So far I have visited a general social security clinic, a Physiatry clinic, the public hospital, and the Santa Maria Clinic (part of the organization CRIPDES). Katie is learning tons of Spanish very quickly and going for mini jogs in the park. We also made a 45 minute trip Saturday to visit the Pacific coast of El Salvador (for fun only). Beautiful black sand and huge waves, but the midday sun was a bit overwhelming.
Hasta Pronto.
