Welcome to the Young Adults Page!

Welcome to the SPF Young Adults page! Here you will find stories, pictures, links, and information about the SPF, the largest Pontifical Mission Society supported by high school students, college students, and young adults.

As young adults, we have many wonderful opportunities to share our time and talents to help other people around the world. We CAN make a difference and we CAN change the world – one person and one step at a time! Be sure to check out the SPF Young Adults page in the future as more information is added, and to see how YOU can get involved in the mission work of the Church! Please feel free to email Colleen at CCoughlin@archstl.org with any comments, suggestions, or ideas for the Young Adults page or for getting young adults involved in mission! Thanks for visiting!

GLOBAL NEWS

A SIMPLE MESSAGE OF LOVE

Ask Sister Ruby who her neighbor is, and be prepared for a list. But right at the top, she’ll tell you, are orphans and vulnerable children. This Missionary Sister of the Congregation of the Immaculate Conception is the director of the Home of Joy in Lusaka, Zambia. There, she and the Sisters in her Community offer a home and an education to orphans and children at risk. “These children who have lost their natural parents or whose parents are dying need to be loved and accepted by others,” Sister Ruby explains. “Our work requires providing the basic necessities of life. But above all, it is our actions that must help these young people feel that loving acceptance. It is what the Lord Himself would show them.” Her Religious Community, she says, has as its charism to “preach the Good News to the poor in simplicity and love.” “To be called to be a Sister was a great privilege in my life,” Sister Ruby explains. “To do this work for these children is my profound joy.”

Quotes to Live By

“We the baptized have work to do as brothers and sisters in Christ. The world is in need of Jesus Christ and his Gospel, the Good News that God loves us.”

-Pope John Paul II

"We must pray, and not for ourselves, but for the world."

-Archbishop
Fulton J. Sheen

“The Society for the Propagation of the Faith, conscious that evangelization is above all the action of the Holy Spirit, encourages the faithful to give first place to prayer and a spirit of sacrifice for mission … to promote education for justice, especially of young people, through information and knowledge about the social doctrine of the Church; to encourage them to help, and work towards increasing missionary awareness leading them to offer themselves for mission; towards this end the Society operates a missionary youth service…”
