Christmas E-Greetings from Hogar Carlos de Villegas!

Please enjoy this beautiful Christmas e-greeting from Sister Rosario Arnao, Director of Hogar Carlos de Villegas in La Paz, Bolivia and a Sister of the Love of God, a religious order from Spain. The words of the Christmas message come from Sister Rosario. She administers the home for children, where roughly 30 babies and toddlers who are orphans live, along with many girls from families that are unable to provide them with food, clothing, and other basic necessities.

The Home called Hogar Carlos de Villegas wishes you:
Merry Christmas!
Christmas is a time to share.
May we never lack a dream for which to work;
A project to do.
Christmas is a time:
To renew joy,
To re-awaken hope.
May this little world of ours
Become ever more human.
With affection and gratitude,
Hogar Carlos de Villegas
La Paz, Bolivia – 2011

Feliz Navidad from Pan y Amor!

Two Christmas parties were recently held for children in Cochabamba, Bolivia – home to many group homes for needy children throughout the Amanecer network. Pan y Amor assists with monthly support for the care of these children.

The toddlers with Baby Jesus in the center are from Salomon Klein. Salomon Klein is home to approximately 200 babies, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. The boys with the shawls and hats are from Casa Nazareth. Casa Nazareth is home to 25 boys between the ages of 5 and 11.

Feliz Navidad!

If you would like to make a donation for these or other children that Pan y Amor assists, please contact Mrs. Shirley Chambers, Coordinator for Pan y Amor, at ShirleyChambers@archstl.org or 314- 792-7661.

Broader Vision for Schools in Africa: New Project of Pan y Amor

Fr. George SsemmombweBroader Vision for Schools in Africa in Kampala, Uganda is the newest project of Pan y Amor. Fr. George Ssemmombwe, a priest from Uganda, was sent by his Bishop to study in St. Louis, in order to prepare him to help street children and orphans whose parents died of HIV/AIDS in his native home country. Fr. George completed his MSW and MBA from Washington University, and in his final year in St. Louis, established Broader Vision for Schools in Africa. He will soon return home to Uganda to serve these children and orphans at Broader Vision School.

These are some of the 1,000+ orphans in Kampala whose parents have died of HIV/AIDS. Your prayers and support can help them!Broader Vision School will be located on ½ acre of land donated by the Diocese of Masaka, Uganda and will cost $99,000 to build. It will provide education and classes for children in grades K-7 (the primary school system in Uganda), as well as dormitories to accommodate 200 children. The Uganda Ministry of Education will provide licensure for the school and will operate an examination center for students to qualify for secondary education. Because of the poverty of the students, outside financial support is needed for this project. Please consider supporting Broader Vision for Schools in Africa. Thank you for your prayers and generosity!
