Archbishop Burke received the Pallium from Pope John Paul II in 2004.
On Monday, June 29, Archbishop Robert J. Carlson will receive the pallium (a circular stole made of lamb's wool, symbolizing his role as a true 'shephard' of the Archdiocese) from Pope Benedict XVI in Rome. The Archdiocese of Saint Louis will be following and reporting the events in Rome as they happen, and the Saint Louis Review will be covering the event by posting photos, pictures, and occasional multimedia clips.
Many other new Archbishops will be receiving the Pallium along with Archbishop Carlson, including Archbishops Allen H. Vigneron of Detroit; George J. Lucas of Omaha, Neb.; Timothy M. Dolan of New York; and Gregory M. Aymond of New Orleans. The Archdiocese of Saint Louis is blessed to have not only our own new Archbishop, but also Archbishop Timothy Dolan and Archbishop George Lucas, both Saint Louis natives, receiving the pallium this year, on the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul.
Please check back on this website, and on the Saint Louis Review website for the latest news starting this Friday, when Archbishop Carlson and many others will begin their pilgrimage in Rome! (Live coverage of the event will air on EWTN at 3:00 a.m., and be rebroadcasted at 10:00 a.m. – More information to come!).

Students and teachers in nine Catholic elementary schools in the City of St. Louis will benefit from a new program called the “St. Louis CSI” Summer Science Academy, sponsored by the Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation and funded through the generosity of the Monsanto Fund. For the next three years, teachers will receive 5½ days of training, both in the classroom at Cathedral Basilica School, and at various locations in the City of St. Louis, including the St. Louis Zoo, the St. Louis Science Center and Planetarium, the Missouri Botanical Garden and Forest Park. The Teacher Academy begins Wednesday, June 24 and continues through Wednesday, July 1.
Students will begin their two-week camp experience on Monday, July 6 and conclude on Friday, July 17, during which they, like the teachers, will spend one day at each venue, and the remainder in the classroom at Cathedral School. The content will cover aquatic ecosystems, ecology, properties of motion, sound, light, heat, magnetism and earth materials, objects and changes in the sky, and characteristics and life cycles of organisms, and their environments.
Updates on the event can be found on the Catholic Education Office's website.
