“The definitive aim of Catechesis is to put people not
only in touch, but also in communion and intimacy, with Jesus Christ.” (Catechesi Tradendae 5) On behalf of the Catholic education community of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, I would like to welcome you to our website. As you will learn while you go through the site, Catholic education has a long, proud tradition in this Archdiocese. Ours is the oldest and largest system of schools in the state, and the seventh largest archdiocesan school system in the country. The percentage of Catholic families who choose Catholic schools for their children here is among the highest in the country, with about 50,000 students enrolled in our Catholic elementary and high schools. In addition to the students enrolled in Catholic schools, there are 21,000 students in parish schools of religion programs and 6,000 adults in parish faith formation programs.
